1919

Pastor Harry Bultema from Muskegon teaches home Bible studies in area.

1920’s

  • Berean Reformed Church founded. First services held at the Wesleyan Methodist Church.
  • Services in rented storefront at 14th & Van Raalte.
  • Groundbreaking on 19th & Maple for new church. John VanDyke called as 1st pastor of Berean Reformed Church. All services are conducted in Dutch.
  • Name changed to Berean Church.
  • In 1928 Dr. Douglas Veltman installed as new pastor of Berean Church.

1949

  • Rev. Frank Moore becomes pastor.

1954

  • Pastor Roscoe Kent installed as new minister. “Grace of God” Radio Broadcast begun on WHTC.

1957

  • Church remodeled and enlarged. Name is changed to Berean Bible Church.

1959

  • Clarence Kramer accepts call to Berean Bible Church as Pastor.

1965

  • Daniel Bultema (son of Founder Harry Bultema) comes as new minister.

1966

  • First Missionary Conference with special guest Pastor Henry Prince from Minnesota.

1968

  • Pastor David Maysick comes to BBC from Grace Bible College.

1976

  • Pastor Arlan C. Mulford begins his ministry as Pastor.

1977

  • 7+ acres purchased on 144th & James for future move and expansion. 

1978

  • Pastor Jim Boeck called to Holland, MI.

  • July 23rd is last service at 19th & Maple Church building after sale. Meet at Woodside School during construction of current facilities. Dedication of building on October 21.

1991

  • Harold Petersen begins pastoral ministry.

1997

  • Dave Holton accepts position of Full-time Youth Pastor. 

1998

  • Pastor Rob Renberg installed as Senior Pastor and begins ministry in Holland.

1999

  • Sanctuary Wall moved back to enlarge worship area. “Building on the Firm Foundation” Stewardship Campaign commits over $1 million for Phase 1 expansion.

2000

  • New Family Life Center completed with new entrance and added rooms. Worship Pastor Verne Reed is added as first full-time worship staff.

2002

  • “Building People” Growth & Giving Campaign commits nearly $900,000 for Phase 2 of three planned expansions.

2003

  • Congregation changes name to Parkside Bible Church and completely pays off Phase 1 cost of $1.3 million.

2004

  • Dedication of new Worship Center, along with an administration and ministry wing.

2006

  • “Overflowing Joy…” Growth & Giving Campaign commits over $600,000 for debt reduction & ministry expansion.

2007

  • Pastor Matt Amundsen called to PBC and installed as full time Youth Pastor. Judy Timmer hired as full time Administrative Assistant. Dave Caruth joined the staff as Worship Arts Director. All time average attendance record for a single year established at 272.

2008

  • PBC records 65% growth over the previous 10 years and sets record Sunday average attendance of 283.

2009

  • “A Generous Life” two year giving effort commits nearly $400,000 to pay down debt in preparation for future building efforts to continue to impact and influence our community for the sake of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

2010

  • Parkside Bible Church celebrates 90 years of ministry in the Holland and Zeeland area.

2011

  • Chad Lippincott joined the staff as Worship Arts Director.

2012

  • “Growing & Building Up in Love” three year stewardship campaign with cash offerings and commitments of $537,784.

2013

  • Ribbon Cutting & Dedication Day 10/20/13 for completion of new Youth and Christian Education wing including a youth room, six classrooms and storage areas.

2014

  • Pastor Rob Renberg leaves Parkside to become pastor at Calvary Chapel in Massillon, Ohio.

2015

  • Pastor Gary Spykerman installed as Sr. Pastor at Parkside on January 18, 2015.

2016

  • Allyssa Thompson joined the staff as Worship Arts Director. Tyler Cook accepted as Interim Youth Director replacing Pastor Matt Amundsen. Parkside’s building debt was paid off in December in the amount of $360,516. Launched new & improved website: www.parksidebibleholland.org.

2017

  • Pastor Joe Johnson hired as Associate Pastor. Parkside invests in a $48,800 sound system for the Worship Center. On Christmas Eve 2017, Parkside began livestreaming their services on You Tube.

2018

  • Trent Ramos hired as temporary Youth Director replacing Tyler Cook who resigned. Barbara Carlisle hired as part-time Administrative Assistant. New roof was completed over the nursery at a cost of $40,000.

2019

  • Parkside purchases outdoor electronic sign with a $27,000 donation. New I.T. updates made with $7,000 donation for computers and more secure backup.

2020

  • Parkside celebrates 100-year anniversary. Parkside cookbook published.

2021

  • Pastor David Franklin hired as full time Youth Pastor. Parking lot repaved at a cost of $119,456.81, totally paid forby the congregation.

2022

  • Kaylee Johnson hired as Worship Leader.
